“A cozy spa and relaxation area for adults, called “Sundayland”, awaits you – a place where time seems to stand still. You can enjoy a deluxe room with all the comforts, a lavish buffet breakfast, unlimited access to the spa and sauna centre, and a wide range of beauty treatments conducted by relaxation specialists. “Sundayland” is waiting for you!”

This is the kind of advertisement Jussike read on a flyer, and he decided, no matter what it took, he would go there. But it was only Monday. Before he could make it, he had to survive the cruel trials of the workweek. Yet his dream of peace and quiet, a cold beer, and lounging around gave him strength. Battered by a tough week, our hero Jussike finally reaches “Sundayland”.

We could ask all kinds of questions: Was he satisfied? Did he like it? Was it worth it? No, we’re not dealing with this. We’ll show you just one thing, the most important thing – how “Sundayland” welcomes him. Will Jussike feel at home in this dreamland, or will he lose control? The answer will be revealed on the spot.

This production draws inspiration from Silvi Väljal’s 1966 children’s story “Jussike’s Seven Friends” and Aldous Huxley’s dystopian novel “Brave New World”.

Note: This is not a children’s production!

About the authors and performers

Von Krahl Theatre (Tallinn, Estonia) is the first private theatre founded in Estonia after the restoration of independence, operating since 1992. Throughout its history, Von Krahl has been a vital creative space where several generations of young, aspiring artists, actors, directors, and technical specialists have gained invaluable experience, honed their skills, and gone on to shape contemporary Estonian theatre. Through innovative methods and experimental stage language, the theatre has consistently focused on socially relevant and timely themes. Von Krahl’s productions have also been regularly presented on numerous international stages and at renowned theatre festivals worldwide.

In 2024, Von Krahl Theatre welcomed a new ensemble consisting of five actors who graduated that same year from the Drama School of the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre: Markus Andreas Auling, Karl Birnbaum, Herman Pihlak, Kristina Preimann, and Edgar Vunš. They were joined by actor and director Liisa Saaremäel, as well as scenographer Kristel Zimmer, a graduate of the Estonian Academy of Arts’ master’s programme. The theatre’s artistic director is Juhan Ulfsak.

The ensemble acts as active co-creators in the development of new works. Their ambition is to craft productions that intertwine the poetic with the political, and the personal with the social. “Everyday Is Like Sunday” is the first production by Von Krahl’s new ensemble.
