tremolo (from Italian, meaning “trembling”) is a musical term for the repeated, rapid repetition of a sound, an interval or a chord.
Director Laura Kutkaitė and her team invite you to a performance-performative lecture on pleasure. The chosen title “tremolo” is interpreted as a vibration – both of pleasure and fear. Fear of not conforming to the “norms” created or imposed by society in the context of sexual pleasure. Fear of living up to the expectations imposed by others, which we so often embody that we don’t even notice.
What has been and continues to be repeated to us many times? What remains silent, but we would like to know, understand, and hear from one another so that each of us can feel normal and healthy in our sexual lives?
The director chooses the format of a performative lecture, which best allows her to explore the themes of women’s knowledge of the body, sexual health, and self-esteem through the lens of sexual pleasure. She combines research-based information with documentary stories of people who identify themselves as women.
“A gentle force” is how the creative team describes the work.
